Q. How does pricing work?

A. "I work on a sliding scale and can fit just about any budget. There are a number of factors that go into pricing. Basically the further away a show is from my home in Orange County, the more it will cost. If you book earlier the price will usually be cheaper. The more hours you hire me for the cheaper the hourly rate MAY get. So as an example, if you hire me for one hour the price will be around $250, if you hire me for three hours the price MAY go as low as $175 per hour. All prices are subject to change and vary on a show to show basis. All prices are negotiable."

Q. What genre of music would fit you best?

A. "I play all sorts of music from Jazz standards to Rock and Roll to some Classical. I also play a lot of Swing, Big Band, Bebop, Latin/Bossa, Love Songs, Show tunes, Pop music, Holiday songs and Smooth Jazz...Since the principal instrument being heard is saxophone, the overall sound will be Jazzy and mellow to most people no matter what song I am playing."

Q. How many songs do you typically play in an hour?

A. “15-20 songs typically fill up an hour.”

Q. Have you been reviewed by anyone?

A. “Yes, I have received several positive reviews from many nice people. You can read them on my Gigmasters profile by clicking here.”

Q. Can I make song requests?

A. “I am happy to take requests, however, all song requests must come from my song list. You can get my complete song list by contacting me.”

Q. Should I choose all the songs for you to play, or should you?

A. “If this is for a wedding I recommend that you choose the ceremony entrance & exit song and first dance song. For all other events you do not have to worry about song selection, if you like you can pick a handful of your favorite songs from my list and that will give me an idea of type of music you want played."

Q. I don't regonize all the songs on your list, will they be good selections?

A. "Please trust me, you do know most of the songs on my list but many times you are just unfamiliar with their name or composer. I can assure you that all of the songs I play are very popular covers of award winning songs and time honored classics that people absolutely love. If you like my sound clips you will like the songs I play. "

Q. What if you don't have my favorite song on your list? Can you learn it?

A. "It depends, first off you will have to provide me with the music file at least one month before your event so I can decide if it is a good fit to play on saxophone. When I prepare the song it will usually be saxophone only with no backing tracks. I will only do this for one or two songs maximum due to the number of hours and energy it takes to prepare. If you can find the written music for me that would be ideal. I will try my best to accommodate you but please understand I have a pre-programmed play list of over 200 songs, around 6hrs of music and I am constantly adding new songs. It may be best just to play that particular song from the orginal CD, that way you know exactly what it will sound like. If you can be flexible and work with me, I am sure we can find something that will be perfect for you."

Q. I have the music for a song I like, will it work on Saxophone?

A. "Not every song translates well to the saxophone. The saxophone is a single voice playing one note at a time; much like a solo vocalist. So if your song has more than one melody happening at once it may not sound right. For multiple voices you may want to get a piano or guitar player or just play the orignial song from the CD."

Q. I have a CD I’d like to play that has my favorite song. Will you play it for me?

A. "Yes, I bring a CD player along to every show and would be happy to play your disc. You can even bring your Ipod if you like "

Q. I have a vocalist that I would like you to accompany, can you do this?

A. “Sure, but I will need a recording of them singing the song and/or the written music to help me prepare for it at least two weeks in advance.”

Q. What do you typically wear to performances?

A. "I usually where a suit and tie. I can also wear a Tux if preferred."

Q. Can you play without power?

A. "Yes, up to 2hrs, however, I can not use my Bose sound system. I have a smaller speaker unit that works with Battery power for these occasions."

Q. Are you performing anywhere that I can come see you?

A. Currently I am playing only for private parties. However, a lot of these are at hotels or restaurants. So if you come by you can usually hear me from outside the room they are in. I am also happy to stay after a show to meet with you. If you like you can meet me at the venue before the performance begins and listen to me as I do a sound check.

Q. Your contract mentions FORCE MAJEURE , what does this mean?

A. "This clause is intended to protect you the client and me the artist from unforeseen events. Such as me getting into a catastrophic car accident on the way to the performance. Or the Freeway being closed due to a large accident. It also covers things like bad weather or the venue getting closed down the day of your event...etc... It protects us both by saying that no one is at fault or liable if an unforeseen event happens."

Q. My Venue requires all vendors to have Insurance, are you insured?

A. Yes, JP carries $1million of liability coverage and can list your venue as an additional insured.

Q. Do you play with any other groups? Can you bring in more musicians?

A. "Yes, I am well networked with many of Orange County's finest musicians. I can be paired up with a trumpet, a piano or a guitar player. I can put together a small trio of musicians. I can recommend other great Saxophone players. I can also get together a complete Blues Band with vocalist and full rhythm and horn section."

Q. I am not receiving any email from you. What’s going on?

A. “I respond to all e-mails Monday-Friday within 24hrs. If it's the weekend you may have to wait unitl Monday morning to hear from me. Also, please check your SPAM folder, for some reason a lot of the messages I send out get sent into people’s junk mail.”
